Introduced The Equality Act to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity---backed by 100% of Democrats in the Congress. Republicans have blocked it in both House and Senate.
Announced protections for LGBTQI+ workers. Biden’s U.S. Dept. of Labor is committed to protect LGBTQI+ workers and ending discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, protecting opportunity for all workers, and advancing equality.
Fought against Discrimination and Hate:
Biden signed many executive orders to protect LGBTQ people in the U.S, prevent and combat discrimination in the workplace, the armed services, education, and the federal government.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas wrote the Court “… should reconsider all of this Court's substantive due process precedents, including Griswold (allowed married couples to get birth control), Lawrence (LGBTQ sex was no longer illegal), and Obergefell (legalized LGBTQ marriage).”

The Dangers if Republicans Win:

23 states run by Republicans already have anti-LGBTQ laws, putting Americans in danger.

31 states have “trigger laws” that will make LGBTQ marriage immediately illegal if Obergefell is overturned.

14 Red states have “Don’t Say LGBTQ” curriculum laws where teachers are not allowed to talk about or teach LGBTQ information or they will be fired. Books about LGBTQ people have been removed from school libraries.

In RED states, eighty new anti-LGBTQ laws were passed in 2023, and 400 more introduced in January 2024 alone.

The beating death of 16 year old Nex Benedict because they used a girl’s bathroom in Oklahoma showed how trans people are in danger. Thirty-two known transgender people were killed in 2023 alone. It is suspected that many more were assaulted, and some killed, that were not reported.

22 states have banned gender-affirming care for minors.

4 red states have “erasure” laws-- Montana, Tennessee, Kansas, and North Dakota—meaning they do not want them to live in their state. Oklahoma is interested in joining them.
